The cover was what made me read the book.
I think the author had that in mind, because the things that went wrong for him were all quite amusingly described.
Because I knew this was where the story was going, I was eager to work my way in and find the author’s approach to this situation. I was ready for him to throw her back to her other sniveling suitors, and good riddance. Or, rather, the plot sounded so good to begin with.

Also, Erienne, our heroine, seems a bit selfish. It would be nice if the Beauty wooiwiss something to recommend her other than her, you know, beauty. She became so stressed about the fact that he put her in positions where she almost gave up her virtue that one night she went to her room, got down on the floor and was beating her fists into her crotch.
The beautiful Erienne, once filled with young dreams of romance, was now a wife and woman Behind her back, she could feel him jerking on his gloves, and on impulse she laid a palm against his chest, finding it firmly muscled beneath the crispness of his shirt.
The prose and pacing of the plot just flowed so smoothly and effortlessly. And coincidentally enough, Erienne’s brother was too a cripple, with the opposite mentality, so one of my favorite demonstrations of Stuart’s character was when he kept inviting him back to the mansion to practice shooting with his only working arm.
